January 24, 2016

If you had read my previous post, you'd know by now that my best friend and I have undertaken reading the Bible, chronologically, as laid out in a blog she found online. It's only a few chapters a day, and we started out at the end of January this year. The reading for this post was written on January 24, 2016, and I am catching up with my thoughts for all to read. Again, disclaimer, I'm pretty to-the-point in my thoughts, and I like colorful, curse-word additions to my daily, consistent vernacular, so you will come across all of it.

Genesis 35-37
- Esau: pronounced Ēśāw
- Esau & Jacob were twins, & Jacob is on the run- why?
- Jacob's name is now Israel. I think sometimes they take other names when something significant happens? In this case it almost seems like a witness protection program kind of thing because he's running for his life.

- Update: Shame on Jacob for being so manipulative of his father and brother. His mom wasn't much help... Geeze, swindling Esau out of his birthright.
- Jacob's wife Rachel had Benjamin, then died. How very sad.

- Man, Joseph's brothers were jerks. Although this is probably the first time I've actually read the story and not heard it told from someone else.
